The Little Mermaid's Wallpaper

Greenberg Sea Creature Wallpaper

The first project assignment required the creation of a repeating wallpaper pattern. I was inspired by a tote bag my mother often carries which is covered is small fish and the like. The piece is intentionally cartoonish, straying from realism to create a bright color pallet.
There are two lines of directional force throughout this piece found in the schools of fish moving in opposite directions. The fish are broken up by assorted bright creatures which add liveliness and variation.
I have worked with transparency with the jellyfish, as they  grow progressively less opaque from top to bottom.
The repeating pattern is offset to further blur the edges of the piece creating a more natural flow of creatures.
